The brand was created by Kenzo Takaba. Originally from Japan, Kenzo studied fashion at Tokyo's Bunka Fashion College inspired by his 2 older sisters. Once he graduated, he moved to Paris in 1964.

The beginnings are difficult, but very quickly he ends up adapting. Seeking a place in the world of fashion, he attended various fashion shows, thus making acquaintances in circles such as Louis Féraud and Jacques Delahaye, selling them some of his sketches. In 1970, Kenzo launched its very first store under the name "Jungle Jap". Having taken up residence at the Galerie Vivienne in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris, he offered his first mainly female models there, in a style mixing the West with his Asian origins, with a touch of modernity. In 1980, Kenzo then became a recognized brand, thus taking the name of its creator.

In 1988, he decided to embark on a completely different world, perfumery. This is the birth of Kenzo perfumes. It begins with a woody fragrance for men, with a touch of bamboo. A perfume that quickly became a reference, then gave way to a lighter scent, Kenzo Homme, which recalled the smell of the sea. But it was in 2000 that the brand then became a reference. indisputable in the world of perfume, with the release of the famous Flower By Kenzo. Its floral oriental accords offer sweetness and freshness, thus embalming hearts and minds. Represented by a magnificent poppy, an odorless flower but a very strong symbol, for a most magnificent plant.

After such success, other fragrances are quickly emerging, all playing on beauty, sensuality and simplicity. Like Kenzo jungle, Kenzo Amour, Power and the latest Kenzo World and its muse Margaret Qualley who in her video spot once again demonstrates the audacity and the touch of madness of Kenzo perfumes.
