Yardley 

In reality, the beginnings of the great house of Yardley took place in 1620 during the reign of the very spendthrift King Charles I of England. A young man by the name of Yardley pays the monarch a considerable sum in order to obtain a franchise to supply all the soaps of the City of London.

All information relating to this company disappeared in the great fire of 1666 except for one essential detail: the use of English lavender to perfume its soaps. More than three centuries later, it is still English lavender that contributes to the success of the house.
